About the Lecturers
Daoshing Ni, Ph.D., O.M.D., L.Ac.
Author, lecturer and co-founder of Yo San University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, ‘Dr. Dao’
first studied Chinese medicine with his father, Hua-Ching Ni, a renowned Taoist master, physician
and author. Dr. Dao earned his Doctorate in Oriental Medicine at Samra University and then
continued with advanced studies in both Beijing and Nanjing Colleges of Traditional Chinese
Medicine in China. The youngest person licensed by the California State Board f acupuncture,
Daoshing Ni has been in private practice at Tao of Wellness in Santa Monica, CA since 1984.
David Cohen, B.A., M.F.A., L.Ac.
David Cohen has taught Principles and Theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Yo San
University for twenty years. David is larger than life; a compassionate and passionate instructor
who grounds Taoism and TCM in a thoroughly approachable way. TCM students report, “He is always
interesting, always challenging and never boring.” David Cohen has been in private practice in
Los Angeles since 1986, where he specializes in internal medicine, particularly the problems of
aging, inflammatory, and immune-compromised disorders.
Alexa Hulsey, B.A., M.A.T.C.M., Dip. O.M., L.Ac.
Alexa Hulsey has an uncanny ability to organize and break TCM studies down into digestible chunks
of material; her work is greatly appreciated by her students. As Assistant Academic Dean at Yo
San University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Los Angeles, Alexa mentored, tutored and taught
TCM students and at the same time maintained a private clinical practice at the university
community clinic. Alexa currently practices acupuncture at the integrative, multi-disciplinary
Healing Arts Medical Group in Memphis, TN.
